Title : "The Australian 2-up Vs. MLM".Business,E-Commerce,Internet Marketing I would like preface this article by saying that neither MLM nor the Aussie 2-up are illegal. If the program that one is involved in uses MLM of the Aussie 2-up as the compensation plan is found to be illegal, then it is because of other aspects of its' operation, not necessarily the compensation plan. Obviously not all programs regardless of compensation plans are operated in an ethical or legal manner. This article is for the purpose of understanding the benefits and pitfalls between the two types of compensation plans. Many people choose to call programs that use MLM or the Aussie 2-up scams. It becomes apparent that individuals with this opinion are lacking in a fundamental understanding of the working structure of these compensation plans. I may decide to address this issue in a future article. Not any one compensation plan with be suitable for all internet marketing business entrepreneurs. It is important to understand the difference between the two in relationship to what any particular compensation plan will demand of you, your downline and upline. Let's brake down the fundamentals of each type of compensation program. The Fundamentals of Multi Level Marketing (MLM) Most MLM compensation plans have several levels of commission based upon total volume of product sales. In order to receive a higher commission, you have to have a higher product sales volume. And you some times have to maintain it. They also will usually have a initial quick start bonus to help put money in the new members pockets. This helps keep new members in the program by getting them hooked in the process. This is not necessarily a bad thing and I don't want it to come off that way. But, after they make a specified amount of sales your commissions will drop down until you get your sales volume up to another specified level. Usually the different levels have some really nice names that reflect the product branding and something to do precious metals or stones, like platinum and diamonds. You might even start out as a semi precious metal or stone, copper or even an opal. And then the more members you get in your downline and therefore the more product sales volume you have you will move up and keep moving up until you become a platinum or diamond member. You could even become a triple diamond or platinum executive member. Now, there is also nothing wrong with this. Some people really need this kind of stroke to motivate them and most of us like to feel we are a part of something special. This is a beautiful thing for them and they get to make a lot of money dong it too. This is all good. I personally have participated in three (3) MLM business opportunities, none of which I ever made any money off of. Why is that? It certainly was not because they had awful products. All three of these companies have impeccable products and business practices. I don't even think that the compensation plans were necessarily to blame. They all had very typical compensation plans. But, I could never seem to get myself out of being a semi precious metal or semi precious stone. I tried, but not very hard. I think I was scared of success or becoming too precious or something. The training could have been better. Not that it was bad with any of these programs. I even knew people directly in my upline that were doing really well. I asked them how they did it and they even showed me. The answer was pretty simple: they set themselves goals, learned what it would take to achieve those goals, then they applied what they learned, they were consistent and they never gave up. And they probably didn't have issues about becoming too precious either or if they did they resolved those issues. In other words they did whatever it took, they worked hard and they didn't get in there own way. So, what was my problem? To put it bluntly, I was lazy, had a defeatist attitude and issues with success that I've already mentioned. But, also maybe it wasn't the right time for me and maybe they weren't the right programs for me either. One of the discouraging aspects to MLM for me personally is that you have to sign up so many people in your downline before you start to make any really decent money. I'm by nature a very impatient person and have almost always been needing money right away. I seem to like to live on the edge a lot. But, that's not the fault of the MLM compensation plan. There are a lot of people that make very good and sometimes great money with MLM business opportunities and then there are people like me that don't. I must say for the most part my failures at MLM were my own fault. My personality is just not compatible with the MLM business model. I'm not comfortable with having to have parties at my home and invite all my friends and neighbors over. And I'm not even going to bring my family into this, I have too many issues with them and can't go there at this time. I also don't like to go to all those meetings at the Marriots in the suburbs. I don't mind web conference calls, but I hate to have to get cleaned up, put something more than a t-shirt on and go out in the world and pretend that I care that I still can only wear the copper level member lapel pin and not a platinum level member lapel like the others. The way everybody wears their pins, it almost makes me feel like I'm supposed to salute as I walk by. I don't deal very well with organizational hierarchy. MLM business opportunities are just not for everybody and certainly not for me. The Fundamentals of the Australian 2-up The Aussie 2-up is much simpler than the MLM compensation plans. One of the aspects of the Aussie 2-up is that I can make some real money almost right away. Let's say you are offering memberships to a three tier internet business opportunity. In all of the Aussie 2-up programs that I know of you can buy yourself into the highest level. You can become a precious metal (gold or platinum) or precious stone and become precious right away! I love this! I don't have to sell tons of vitamins or gallons of health juice to be precious? Sign me up! You will now need to sign up two people at the highest level and give them up to your sponsor before you become qualified. That's where the term 2-up comes from. You pass up to the person that signed you up the first 2 sign ups that you get. Now, don't get all bummed out. This is how we keep your upline helping you with your training and achieving your goals. Believe me, if they can still make another $1000, $2000 or more off of you, they will return your phone calls. In most cases, a new member is not going to know everything that they need to know in order to be successful at any internet marketing business opportunity and therefore will need training and support. With your third sign up they pay you directly and you keep the money and the third sign up is now in your downline. OK, but what if it takes you two months to sign up two people and become qualified? It shouldn't take you two months but it could so let's use the hypothetical. What if you need money right away? Try to find a program that allows you to automatically become qualified in the lower program when you join the highest level. That way you get to keep the sign ups and the money from the lower level program. This is a great way to make some quick cash and start to build your team. In order to be successful with either compensation plan it is essential to develop a team of members that work together to support each other with challenges and training of new members as well as each other. Neither compensation plan will allow you to get rich quick over night. The Aussie 2-up or MLM business opportunities will all require hard work, commitment, discipline, fortitude and team work. With all these ingredients in the mix your business will flourish by leaps and bounds and will cause perpetual growth and prosperity for yourself, your upline and your downline.
